Bert Kreischer, the hit comedian, is known for both his storytelling and his lack of shirts. But despite his immense popularity, there are many things people don’t know about the man… or should I say the Machine? Like for example, did you know that he is currently working on a new series for Netflix? Yes that is right, production started earlier this month and the sitcom named “Free Bert” stars the comedian playing a fictionalized version of himself and follows his antics after he is fired from his TV show and has to try to protect his family from cyberbullies after his daughters join a prestigious private school and it is expected to release in early to mid 2026. I bet you also didn’t know how his infamous habit of not wearing a shirt during his routines is related to him evacuating his bowels on a pizza box while naked in front of his fraternity. Well you see…

One of the most searched topics about Bert Kreischer is why he does stand up without a shirt. And the answer is simple: He is quite the partyer and when he takes his shirt off, people want to drink. In fact his party animal status is legendary, so much so that the film Van Wilder was actually based on his six years at FSU. He is so well known for partying that Rolling Stone did an article that listed him as the number one partyer at the number one party school in the nation. While he was there his lack of clothing often fueled the party, where he not only went shirtless, but sometimes pantless or even completely naked.

In fact when he ran for president of his fraternity, Alpha Tau Omega, he gave his 9 minute campaign speech completely naked and under the theme of “having nothing to hide". And this is how we connect shirtless on set to brown on box as how do you top that? Well when he ran for frat president the second time, he had to top it off so to speak, by not only being nude, but also by having a bowel movement on top of a pizza box. Personally, that is probably my least favorite topping; So next time someone brings up how much they hate pineapple on pizza, feel free to let them know that there are far worse options.

So the story that Bert is most well known for is the one that ended up giving him the nickname of “the Machine” And for the few of you that aren’t familiar with it, the gist is that during a school related trip to Russia, he ended up accidentally befriending the Russian Mafia and robbing a train, you know like we’ve all had to deal with at one point in our lives or another. This story was so well told that it propelled him even further into the limelight as a comedian, but few people know that this epic story almost didn’t make it into his routine at all. In fact he was going to retire the story, when none other than Joe Rogan himself, who is a fellow comedian, podcaster and a friend of Kreischer’s heard the story and pushed him to include it in his act, and the rest is history. And on a side note, if you have not watched the classic sitcom News Radio, you need to check it out as it is one of the most underrated sitcoms of the 90s and one of my all time favorites.

Now this new show is not Bert’s only experience with producing content for tv as in 2010 he his own reality show Bert the Conqueror, but what you may not know is that he has many fears, including a fear of heights and in this show he was constantly put up against those fears facing various amusement rides, skydiving and many other tests of strength and courage, all for our viewing pleasure.
